Hand-in.

Today was our professional practice hand in so all the posts relating to my business cards, portfolios, CV’s etc had to be handed in at 4.

I managed to get everything handed in and with half an hour to spare! I am really pleased with my overall outcome of this module.

As part of this module I had to create this blog to show my online presence. I have really enjoyed blogging about my studies and I hope you have enjoyed reading my posts and tracking my process for final major. I just want to say a massive thank you to all my followers that I have gained 🙌

I will be continuing to post on my blog regarding my final major project as I want to keep you guys informated!

Early Bird Catches The Worm.

As per usual I’m awake at stupid O’clock but the benefits of waking up early are great!

I found this great article on why getting up early is beneficial http://www.businessinsider.com/reasons-you-should-wake-up-earlier-2014-7?IR=T

  • Your quality of sleep is better
  • You achieve your goals and are more likely to get more done
  • You have the chance to eat breakfast which sets you up for the rest of the day

I have found that I am more productive if I get up early as I can plan my day better. Getting up early is something that I will need to do when I am working so why not start now!

More on FMP Illustrations.

I’m back from the drawing board.

I think this style looks better, I have used a finer fine liner and I have also used layout paper to create this illustrations to give it a lighter feel.

I have used pro markers to highlight the colours of the garments. Rather than do a full colour illustration like I have done in previous modules I think something a bit different might work better.

Do you recognise the garments I have illustatored from previous blog posts?

FMP Illustrations.

Over the last few days I have been working on my illustrations for Final Major Project.

I need to show these in my portfolio hand-in which is on Friday but I still have time after to develop them further. But the sooner they are done and finalised the better as I can focus on something else.

Here’s what I have been working on.

I am a very sketchy illustator and I always have been but I think my style works well for me which is the most important thing. I’m not the best at illustrations but I have come a long way since starting my degree. This was sketched in pencil.

I then went over the illustration with a fineliner but I think this is too dark, so back to the drawing board I go!

Portfolio.

Today I have been working on my portfolio. I have choosen my strongest work from previous projects to go into my portfolio, this included Tallulah Love, Negotiated and Final Major Project.

I have included moodboards, design development pages, range plans and illustrations in my portfolio. However I have included more techinal and making elements to my portfolio as this suits my relevant career path.

I am in the process of finishing off my portfolio and only have a few bits to tweak once I have done this I will be sharing my portfolio with you guys!

My Goals.

I have recently been thinking about my  career goals, short term goals and long term goals. I normally like to have a clear plan and follow my plan carefully but within my career I am open to opportunities and you never know where or what might happen!

My short term goals: (To be achieved in a year or less)

  • Finish my degree to a 2.1 standard.
  • Gain some work experience within pattern cutting or garment construction to develop my skills.
  • Gain some work experience within teaching.
  • Apply and be accepted onto a teacher training course.

My long term goals: (To be achieved in 5 years)

  • To have completed my teacher training course.
  • To be employed by a local school.
  • To travel and maybe teacher abroad.

My career goals:

  • To be a teacher in a great school.
  • To become head of department.

Update.

Today is the first day back at university after the 2 weeks Easter holiday. I have decided to start the cutting out process of outfit 1.

I’m finding it hard to get back into the swing of things so cutting out is a great task to start with.

Photoshoot Inspiration.

I return back to university tomorrow after 2 weeks off, they have flown by!! Once I go back I have roughly 4 weeks before my final major collection hand in and during this time I need to make my collection and get it professional shot.

I have been networking with some photography students from the university that might be able to shoot my collection. One student looks really promising and his work is amazing so finger crossed he will be able to shoot it.

I created a Pinterest board of some ideas for the photoshoot. Here’s a link to my board.

I want my photoshoot to be confident and powerful but not too sexy as this doesn’t reflect my market or collection. I would like the hair and make up to be natural but still have strong elelments as seen in this example.

Her make up and look is very natural however there is strong emphasis on her eyes by using eyeliner.

I have also been looking at styling for my photoshoot. Extras such as bags, jewellery and shoes I might have to provide them myself.

Heres a few ideas I have.
